Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Mastermind different to business coaching?

Yes. Business coaching is normally one on one, or sometimes in group. The Business Coach provides direct assistance, guidance and answers to specific problems for a business owner. Mastermind is always in group, where the members of the group work as one and everyone contributes to solve each member’s specific problems no matter how big or small.

  • I only have been in business 6 months. Would Mastermind coaching be good for me?

Yes, a Mastermind group could work for you, but you would still need to contribute at each meeting and not sit idle because you don’t have enough business experience to be involved with the group. It would depend on the final makeup of the group and if it was the right fit for all members.

  • Do I have to come to each meeting?

Yes. It is very important that you show up to every meeting. Obviously, things come up, and you may not be able to attend one meeting, but if you start missing multiple meetings, then you may be asked to leave the group as the group depends on all the members to participate and help everyone in solving their problems.

  • How do I know if Mastermind coaching is for me?

The best way is to have a call with me, and we can discuss how it works and if you would benefit from joining a Mastermind group.

  • How much time do I need to allocate after the Mastermind class to complete my tasks.

This depends, and will vary from each class, but you really need to find about 4 to 6 hours a week where you aren’t working in your business and working on your business.

  • Can I leave the group at any time?

Yes, however I recommend a minimum of 6 months in a Mastermind program as this is how long it takes to really see the benefits of working within a Mastermind group and getting to know the other members.

  • Do I have to pay up front?

You can pay month to month, but you need to pay in advance of each meeting.  This can be via a automatic direct debit, or via monthly invoice.

  • Can I get a refund?

Yes. If you don’t like your first meeting, then you can ask for a full refund, no questions asked.  There are no refunds from your 2nd meeting onwards.

  • What is a Mastermind Group?

    • Most people have heard of business coaching, where you might work one on one with a business coach, or in a group. The coach will work closely with you on your specific problems in your business, and generally help you achieve your goals and grow your business by providing direct advice and solutions. There is nothing wrong with business coaching and depending on your circumstances and what you want to achieve, business coaching may be the best option for you.
In a Mastermind Group, you join a team of up to eight, like-minded business owners once a month, where we work in a very open, and positive atmosphere. It isn’t like a school or university class where a teacher lectures you. Each member of the group must contribute and help the other members with their problems by providing ideas and solutions via the “hotseat”.

At each meeting, every member will get 15 mins in the “hotseat” where they present a particular problem, and the other members of the group provide solutions to that particular problem. It is incredibly powerful and allows eight minds focusing in on one problem which normally provides a solution. The only other environment where you might have that much brain power zeroing in a business problem is if you had a board of directors which isn’t very common in small to medium businesses.

It is amazing that no matter how experienced you might be in business, everyone will learn something or pick up ideas from other business owners. This is the real business world, where the current business environment and business problems are put on the table. Egos are left at the door, and everyone is respectful of each member, no matter how small or big a problem might be.

You will form a relationship with the other members, and the group may continue for many, many months, or even years. There is no obligation to stay, but I do recommend that you give it at least six months as this is how long it takes to implement and see changes in your business, plus it takes several meetings to get to know the other members of the group.

Before the first meeting, you will need to fill out a small questionnaire that helps me understand your business, and the problems you are facing.
At the first meeting, everyone introduces themselves and provides a summary of their business and what it does. We will go back to the members one by one and work off the questionaries that have been provided to me. I will ask each member to elaborate on their challenges, and discuss their goals, and as a group we allocate time for each person’s challenges to be addressed via the “hotseat” and each person will come away with some ideas of how they can take the next step forward in their business from the first meeting.
You will also commit to your own goals that will need to be completed before the next meeting. “A goal without a deadline is merely a dream”! You will be accountable to the group to meet these goals. In between the meetings, there will be ongoing support and communication via a private Facebook group, or message boards. The biggest challenge I have seen is that members fall back into their business and become too busy to focus on their goals and implement any changes to their business. That’s why it is important that there is ongoing communication with the group members in between meetings to help each other stay focused on any changes that need to be implemented to their business.
The key takeaway is that it doesn’t matter how big or small your business is, whether the business has been going for 2 years or 22 years, we are there as a group to help and support each member achieve their goals and celebrate each win. Whether that is buying a white board to start to get organised, creating a LinkedIn profile, or launching a $20,000 marketing campaign, we all want everyone to move forward and achieve things they didn’t think possible.
